Hon. James Olivier, 32° KCCH
Prelate, Director of The Work
Fall is nearly upon us, so it’s time to prepare for our upcoming reunion. I’ve been very encouraged in recent months to have new Brothers stand up and offer to participate in ritual and stagecraft, but remember, there’s always room for more!
This fall, we will be performing the mandatory 5 degrees, the 4th, 14th, 18th, 30th, and 32nd, along with the 31st. So what does this mean for you, the mason who might have been curious about what it takes to be involved in the reunion?
Cast members: This is pretty self-explanatory. You take a role in a degree (or two if you’re feeling adventurous) and perform the degrees for the candidates. Don’t worry; suitable assistance will be provided in the form of a degree master who oversees the logistics of the degree and rehearsals. So collectively, as a cast, get to know the ins and outs of the degree to ensure a successful performance.
Stagecraft: In this role, you’ll assist in setting up and tearing down before and after the degrees. For larger degrees that require scene changes, you’ll be in the room to help move props and set pieces around. The stagecraft crew is also responsible for making sure costumes are out and ready for the cast and generally assists in making sure everything is ready as it is needed.
These roles are essential to the experience of our members, new and old. Think back to when you attended your first reunion as a candidate, all the work that was done for you to bring you the best experience possible. Now, it’s time to continue to pay it forward for those who come after us. So please reach out to me if you’re interested and I promise, we’ll find a place for you! For those interested, my email is listed below. I look forward to hearing from you!
